I (they/them) believe it’s my role as the therapist to create a therapeutic space that feels affirming, helpful, and effective. I believe a team approach and shared curiosity will best support a client’s growth. Shame is a common theme that I see in therapy that often keeps people stuck, so it’s a priority of mine to build the kind of therapeutic relationship that will allow us to deconstruct shame together in order to address whatever lies beneath. As a therapist, I am committed to supporting the voices that are too often silenced and need to be heard. Therapy can be a place for support and self-work. It’s a space where individuals, couples, polycules, and groups can discuss, process and work through a range of topics. Therapy itself is a commitment to personal growth. It’s a place of compassion and empathy.
I utilize a range of clinical modalities to support the therapeutic process. Some of those include: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I am a trans masculine queer person with white privilege and able body privilege. Privilege and individual identities can often impact the therapeutic relationship and I welcome exploration of our shared and differing experiences to ensure the safest space possible.
Within the therapeutic relationship, I enjoy exploring issues related to identity, relationships, shame, trauma, performance anxiety, and life transitions. I believe the client is the expert relating to their own life experiences.
Trauma
Performance anxiety (work, athletics, school)
Shame
LGBTQIA2+ identity exploration, “coming out”, family dynamics etc.
Relationship work: Dyads, triads, quads, polycules, chosen family, couples
Depression and other Mood Disorders
Range of clinical focus:
I am a queer, trans masculine, assigned female at birth person. I was born and raised in Ohio in a military household as a queer kid with a sibling with disabilities. At the time, I had no words for my experiences as no one talked about it in a positive light. My identities felt invisible. I didn’t know other people existed who were like me. I grew up losing my best friend (a parent), not to death but to PTSD, and my family was never the same. The very thing that brought pain also brought strength. I have done a lot of work where these experiences have given me a better sense of empathy and understanding in some aspects of human experience. Life is complex and can take a turn in so many directions; so can recovery and the journey to improve mental health. I go to individual therapy and show up to do the work. I believe it’s a strength that I’ve sat on both sides of the room as a therapist and a client, and believe good therapists go to therapy.
