Reggie Pine McCloskey, MA, MFT, SEP

RELATIONSHIP THERAPIST & SOMATIC EXPERIENCING PRACTITIONER

I (pronouns: they/them) am dedicated to a trauma-informed, person-centered, compassionate therapeutic approach. With a focus on strengths, attachment, mindfulness, and somatics, I incorporate therapeutic modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, parts work, narrative therapy, the Gottman Method, and expressive arts, tailoring interventions to individual and relational needs. I offer presence, respectful reflection, and unconditional acceptance, with the intent of reducing shame and supporting exploration. I believe most people long to be seen and witnessed, just as they are, and that within the relative safety of relationships, change and growth organically arise.

Many "pathologies" are natural responses to individual, relational, and systemic trauma, and I understand that mental health care in the United States has caused much harm, especially to marginalized populations. I welcome exploring identity, history, privileges, and oppressions. I value self-inquiry, collaborative learning, and deconstructing power dynamics. This means that I prioritize mutual consent as an ongoing part of the therapeutic relationship. I trust you as the expert on your life.

I work with individuals, couples, and relationships of all configurations, including poly, CNM, open, and monogamous, as well as folx navigating trauma, loss, burnout, and existential dread.

I am a white, queer and genderqueer, neurodivergent human, living with invisible disabilities, in a straight-sized, mostly able body. I have four cats, two adult children, and a super cute partner. I love jumping in the ocean and into cold mountain rivers, and I love being in the woods. I enjoy creating; I knit and crochet, collect found animal skulls, and have taxidermied one mouse.

Personal

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2022, from Sofia University, (formerly, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) with an emphasis on relationships and family therapy, trauma, and transpersonal psychology. During my practicum experience, 2021-2022, I worked as a student therapist at Equitas Health, Hope Love & Dream, and Ohio Marriage & Family Therapy, employing the use of gender-affirming care, person-centered care, compassionate inquiry, mindfulness, parts work, DBT skills, the Gottman Method, and other collaborative modalities.

Prior to entering the field of mental health care, I worked as a primary care provider to pregnant and birthing people as a Certified Professional Midwife and volunteered with public health agencies focused on inequities in birth outcomes and social determinants of health, including the effects of accumulated stress from living with everyday racism.

I am passionate about lifelong learning and value continuing education. I have recently attended the following workshops:
